Joel Payne

Joel's diverse experience allows him to transcend industry lines to assist organizations or individuals to reach maximum potential. This allows clients to maximize hidden potential and achieve outcomes once thought to be out of reach.

His main purpose is to coach clients to recognize and breakthrough existing and outdated paradigms in order to set goals, resolve problems, and thus achieve improved results. He works through a non-traditional approach to help clients identify and achieve goals in a unique way that provides sustained results. Joel understands the difference between conducting "training" sessions and coaching. He uses a unique method to change ingrained habits of thought through spaced repetition which brings about a fresh new way to modify long-term behavior and enable the client to reach an optimal solution while adapting to constant change in today's environment.

Joel feels the bottom line is summed up by the following statement: "Mission first, people always." He feels we must have it both ways in order to create the win-win situation that is so critical to business and personal success. History has proven successful individuals and organizations with strong ethics, positive attitudes, and well trained, motivated personnel will accomplish most any challenge or task because as people are truly the engine that drive and maintain excellence.

Upon graduation from college he was commissioned as a second lieutenant and served in the active military for twenty-four years. During this time, he quickly learned to adapt to constant change and was a leader or planner for many different types of organizations. He began his career as a pilot, aviation commander and operations officer. This part of his early career was highlighted by operating ten airfields in Central Europe while simultaneously deploying units to the Middle East for Operation Desert Storm. Because of this effort, his unit was chosen as Army Aviation "Unit of the Year." After attending the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, he served as Professor of Military Science and Leadership at a major university and ended his military career at the ROTC Eastern Region Headquarters serving as the Chief of training for 132 university programs and over 750 JROTC units. As the Director of Operations and Training and Chief of Staff for the Eastern Region of U.S. Army Cadet Command, Joel planned and executed the Leaders Training Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky where some 1500 college students annually attended a four-week, experiential team building experience considered one of the best leadership and confidence building venues anywhere.

Since retiring, Joel has worked as a defense contractor and project manager. He presently works with high school youth focusing on leadership and team building, while motivating them to become better citizens. He holds a Masters of Science in Business Administration from Boston University and many other professional licenses. He has written numerous articles on leadership and often invited to be a guest speaker on the topic. Joel and his family live in Louisville, Kentucky.
